Adding Drivers to a Windows Setup CD

August 30th, 2006

Well at work today we’ve recieve a new IBM server. It’s a very nice x3650 for a customer but there’s a but. It doesn’t come with a floppy drive or PS2 ports. Great news really as they’re hardly ever used anyway. But not acctualy in this case as there’s no way to get Windows on there as the server’s RAID drivers aren’t stored on the Windows CDs.

So the problem now is to get the SCSI drivers onto the Windows 2003 setup CD. It’s pretty much the same for Windows XP.

We spent ages looking around the net to get hold of a decent artical to show us how to add the drivers to the CD for boot. Well it wasn’t linked enough around the web so here it is now – MS KB288344
