We have recently put in 2 IBM x3650 servers, and somehow a driver is somehow stealing 1Gb of RAM (missing 1Gb).
No it’s not a Windows x32 / x64 / 64bit thing. The BIOS reports 4Gb and Windows reports 4Gb but there’s only 3Gb avalible for use !

See the free RAM up there … 2.9Gb on a clean Windows 2003 R2 x64 bit server with only MS Virtual Server installed. It’s happening on both boxes and IBM claim there are no hardware faults and have closed both calls we’ve logged with them. They say it’s Windows. Microsoft say it’s kernel level driver and point us at the server manufacture.
Now when building the box we used IBM’s Server Guide CD to assist in the driver install. So we’re assuming that something from there is causing the problem. We’ve tried installing all maner of new drivers, removed ones we think it could be and searched the web for anyone else on this planet that may be having this problem. But we’re drawing blanks everywhere we look !
We’re now about to install Windows in different flavours and a few different Linux’s to see if we can pin it down. Any suggestions greatly recieved.
!! Got to be said that there’s getting fewer and fewer reasons to bother buying IBM servers now !!

Well I’ve been playing with SP1 for Vista for a while now. Not much to say appart from it’s a big boy and take a very long time to apply. The other SP1 build where a little iffy to install and sometimes appeared to fail. This latest one the RC (Release Candidate) seems just fine. It’s on my main work laptop doing what I suppose it should do, ie. work
. Copying of files across the network seems to be better (faster) but I’m not sure if that’s just me. I also think that the battery life looks a little better now.
So overall I’d say it looks ready to go.

So I have over 8000 Nintendo points … but what’s the point if there’s never anything to spend them on ! Has anyone ever cached their points in and got something decent from it ?

Well after the mess that was the Toshiba G900 I moved onto the Eten X500+. Everything I’ve ever wanted in a device, VGA, GPS, phone – PERFECT. The battery life is very good, at least a good 3 days use as a PDA before it needs a charge. The VGA screen can be read outside and looks lovely and crisp. The GPS is very very quick at an initial lockon and appears perfectly accurate. The build is compact and solid, I mean totaly solid. It opperates quickly and doesn’t need too many restarts
.
I’m currently running it with the following software installed -
SPB Wallet
TomTom Navigator 6
SPB Mobile Shell
SPB Phone Suite
ETEN Satellite Data Update
Resco File Explorer
For the first time in a long time I acctualy don’t care about what else is coming out as I know it’s not going to equal or match the X500+ for quite some time.
Life = lack of news / posts.
Lots going on in my existance, new company, 2 new members of the family (one by birth, one by marrage), facebook, World of Warcraft, new Laptop, new phone, new internet providors, new phone lines, new servers and potential new pet on route. See loads going on.
Not that anyone really cares though
, but back to the normal junk appearing on here shortly I hope.
There is a company called New Brand Vision that created and sold a service called the “Microsoft Supplier Showcase”. They raked in several thousand pounds per exhibitor but it completely hasn’t worked ! During the sales process the name NBV was never spoken of or even on any paperwork. It was all about the “Microsoft” Supplier Showcase and how it was generate leads. Having spoken to many exhibitors it appears that not a single person has ever received a lead. More over this blog gets more hits per week that the supplier showcase does ! !
Interestingly I’ve just requested a quote from someone and one hour later there’s no request in their inbox !
Maybe this is outright fraud, as NBV where never in the picture when the sales process for this service was going on. Maybe NBV never even expected it to work but came up with a way to charge customers through the nose for something that they never expected to work ! Maybe they’ve projected the same program next year, in which case the company will be sorely down on their expectations.
So personally I’d say that the Supplier Showcase was a complete farce tantamount to fraud.

Watched Sunshine last night … AMAZING. Was like nothing I’ve seen before. It was werid in that the plot had wholes all over it but that entirely wasn’t the point. It was almost as if the film was just supposed to be there for you to awe at. The effects were great and I loved the sets and the score. The music playing towards the end scenes (and I’m not talk about the credits music junk) is great, very M83 like, totaly fitting.
Only thing I’d change is the gore as it just felt out of place. I feel sorry for the people that didn’t get it and are asking questions about the plot. Gutted it didn’t do well in the cinema.
So pleased to have watched it, gonna watch it again shortly. Can’t wait to see it in 720p or 1080i
.
Easy 9/10 … loved it.

Have we all been ripped off with them ? ?
Amazingly I just checked and found out that I’ve had cconnor.com since 1999-06-24. Wow that’s along time and most of that I’ve just used it for email
. Had a few websites on it from time to time but most have been junk.
Look some are even on way back machine, this one is from 2001 !
Great to see how much easier a fairly decent site is to make now. Thank goodness to WordPress and the like
